You don't need another productivity hack

I've been chewing on these 3 ideas a lot recently.

Do you ever feel like it's all too much?

  • Kids activities that never end.
  • New gadgets everyone supposedly needs.
  • Volunteering at church.
  • The latest fitness trend
  • A calendar that somehow fills itself before Monday is over.

If it's been feeling like too much lately, it might be because of these 3 things.

1. You've lost sight of your non-negotiables

If you don't have non-negotiables then it's time to make some.

What are the things that are actually worth your time and attention?

Because I can promise you this: trying to keep up with everything everyone else is doing isn't one of them.

There's nothing wrong with social media, community events, or staying informed.

But if they leave you feeling like you need to join every trend, sign up for every opportunity, and fill every blank space on your calendar, it's time to reevaluate.

I'm assuming if you're reading this email (thank you by the way:) fitness is a priority or you want it to be. That means something is going to have to take a back seat.

The good news?

You get to choose what that is.

Maybe it's folding laundry immediately.

Maybe it's making those Pinterest meals that somehow take two hours even though the blogger promised it was a "quick weeknight dinner." 🙃

Maybe it's scrolling for another hour before bed.

Every "yes" is also a "no" to something else.

Choose carefully.

2. Simplify what success means

One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is setting the bar so high they never get started.

Instead of reading for an hour every night, read one page.

Instead of committing to a 60-minute workout, commit to 5 minutes.

Success doesn't have to be impressive.

It just has to be repeatable.

A workout could be:

  1. Air Squats 15 reps
  2. Eccentric push ups 5-10 reps
  3. Bear Plank 20-30 seconds

Repeat 1–3 rounds.

Done.

That's 3–15 minutes.

And it still counts.

3. Stick to your non-negotiables for 3-6 months

Changing the plan every two weeks isn't working.

Find something simple and stay with it.

Most people never give a plan enough time to work before jumping to the next one.

The moment results aren't instant, they start asking:

"Should I try something different?"

"Maybe this isn't working."

"Maybe I need a new program."

But often the problem isn't the plan.

The problem is constantly abandoning it.

Consistency beats novelty almost every time.

The Everyday Athlete mindset

The strongest people I know aren't the ones with the perfect routine.

They're the ones who know what matters, keep it simple, and show up even when life gets messy.

Pick your non-negotiables.

Simplify success.

Stay with it longer than feels comfortable.

That's where the magic happens.
